About

Helping set youth in crisis on a path to healing.

The Western Idaho Youth Support Center is open 24/7/365 to provide youth ages 10-17 free services—no appointment necessary. The support center provides a place to rest, relax, recreate, food, and mental health services for up to 23 hours and 59 minutes during a crisis situation to any youth who seeks help.

Once at the center, youth will meet with a compassionate team of mental health professionals, and receive services such as crisis intervention services, a medical screening, mental health assessment, and community-based referrals.

A guardian’s involvement in their youth’s journey toward healing is vital. Parents and legal guardians are encouraged to join youth at the center and required to consent to treatment for all youth. Parents/guardians, as well as other trusted adults, can also reach out for guidance on how to help the young person in their lives and with their challenges

About Youth Crisis Centers

There are many reasons a youth might find themselves looking to the youth support center for help. A mental health or substance use crisis looks different for everyone. The center will welcome any youth, ages 10-17, who feel they are in a crisis situation and will help transition youth to other services, if more appropriate.

Additional benefits of youth crisis centers:

  • Can prevent escalation in family conflict and violence in the home.
  • Can prevent expensive and unnecessary hospital visits.
  • Can prevent juvenile justice system involvement or inappropriate incarceration because of a behavioral health crisis.

Benefits to the Community

Access to quality crisis services save communities money and promote mental and emotional well-being by preventing:

  • Unnecessary and expensive emergency department and hospital stays.
  • Involvement with law enforcement and juvenile justice.
  • Future family crisis and trauma in the home.
  • Future crisis, self-harm, and suicide.
